Indian Christian Leaders Affirm Dan Buttry's Contribution

When the religious persecution broken out in Orissa area of India, Dan Buttry, Global Consultant on Peace and Justice, visited the affected area on behalf of International Ministries. The Bengal-Orissa-Bihar Baptist Churches' Association has invited Dan back to provide more conflict transformation training to the local churches. Here is the letter sent by Rev. Samaresh Nayak, Acting General Secretary of the Association affirming the contribution of Dan Buttry.

"Thank you very much for your prayer and support towards Kandhamal religious persecution. By the grace of God we were able to hold a conflict resolution and trauma healing seminar in Kandhamal itself. 55 grass-root level leaders and pastors representing several denominations including Catholics have attended this two days seminar during April 22-23. We were privileged to have Rev. Dan Buttry, IM's Global Missionary on Peace and Justice of the American Baptist Churches conducting this seminar as the one and only resource person. Several workshops, Bible studies and individual studies were conducted during these two days leading people to prepare their hearts for community building and to be peace makers. This type of program was first of its kind in Orissa and particularly in Kandhamal.

We are grateful to the IM and its ministry through their special program on peace making. We are also thankful to God's anointed servant Rev. Dan Buttry for his specific ministry in peace making…

While the Kandhamal Seminar was going on we also had our second phase of relief program being carried out in Kandhamal and was just completed yesterday. A detail report on the relief will be sent shortly.
