Mr. Shiwen Tang studies in the graduate program of the Divinity School of the Chung Chi College equipping himself to meet the increasing need of leaders' development of the church in China. Mr. Tang is an Old Testament teacher of the Zheijiang Theological Seminary. The seminary runs several two to four years programs training pastors and Christian leaders. Currently, the school has 7 full time teachers and 150 students. Under the leadership of the China Christian Council and the Three-Self Patriotic Movement (CCC/TSPM), the 20 plus theological seminaries and Bible schools in China strive to strengthen their faculty and increase their capacity to admit more students. Mr. Tang's study in the Chung Chi Divinity School is one of cooperative projects of CCC/TSPM and the International Ministries.
When Benjamin Chan, IM Area Director of East Asia and India, visited Mr. Tang on the campus, Mr. Tang thanked IM for its support of his study. He also shared with Rev. Chan that "Our Chinese church is devoting to constructing Chinese theology. We need to return to the Holy Bible and to inherit the precious traditions of the universal church. We also need to combine our theology with Chinese context and culture. The Chinese theology we want to construct not only can satisfy the spiritual need of Chinese church, but also can contribute to the ecumenical Christian community."
